About the event
The 3rd Trends and Innovations in Medical Laboratories Conference runs from 13 to 16 September 2026 at the Fairmont Riyadh, under the theme "Shaping the Future of Diagnostics, Research, and Laboratory Excellence". The programme opens with a day of hands-on workshops on 13 September, followed by three days of scientific sessions from 14 to 16 September. The organiser expects more than 2,000 local and international participants, and the conference carries 30 accredited Continuing Medical Education hours.
The conference is built around diagnostics innovation, laboratory research, artificial intelligence and automation, digital transformation, quality and accreditation, and future laboratory technologies. Sessions span clinical biochemistry and toxicology, haematology, digital pathology, microbiology, precision medicine, premarital and newborn screening, histocompatibility and organ transplantation, and point-of-care testing. They are preceded by six workshops covering corrective action for accreditation findings and proficiency testing, laboratory operations, clinical interpretation of results, artificial intelligence, leading the laboratory under pressure, and public health surveillance and screening programmes.
The conference is organised by the laboratory operations sector of Health Holding Company under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, and is accompanied by an innovation Labathon and an excellence awards track. It is aimed at laboratory leaders and specialists, researchers, healthcare practitioners, regulators, academics and laboratory technology companies. Conference registration is free, and the workshops have their own separate registration.
