Sarab Taha is a clinical scientist at King Fahad Medical City in Riyadh. Her area is flow cytometry, the technique that measures physical and molecular characteristics of individual cells in suspension and underpins the diagnosis and monitoring of haematological disease. As treatment has moved towards personalised regimens, flow cytometry has been asked to do more: immunophenotyping for diagnosis and classification, measurable residual disease at ever lower thresholds, and immune monitoring, each demanding tighter standardisation of panels, instrument setup and analysis.
