Jaffar Khiariy is head of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Jeddah, a 500-bed tertiary hospital serving western Saudi Arabia that holds accreditation from the Joint Commission International, the College of American Pathologists and the American Association of Blood Banks, together with Magnet nursing status; its HLA laboratory is separately accredited by the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. He has inspected laboratories for the College of American Pathologists since 2019 and served as a laboratory surveyor for the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions since 2012, the national accreditor of Saudi hospitals and laboratories. Accreditation bodies routinely record findings that laboratories close with a written response and no lasting change, so the same finding returns at the next survey.
