Charles Alessi
Chief Clinical Officer
Charles Alessi is a physician who practised for decades in the British National Health Service and has spent the later part of his career on prevention and on the use of data in health systems. He chaired the National Association of Primary Care in the United Kingdom, was medical director for British forces in Germany, and served as a senior advisor to Public Health England, where his work centred on healthy ageing, dementia and risk reduction. From 2017 he was global chief clinical officer of HIMSS, advising governments, hospital systems and companies on health information and technology, and he has sat on World Health Organization expert panels on neurosciences and dementia. In November 2024 he joined Nightingale Health, the Finnish company whose blood-based health check detects risk for several chronic diseases from a single sample, initially as chief medical officer of its United Kingdom arm. He is an adjunct research professor in clinical neurosciences at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University in Canada and an associate lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University.
