Peter Goadsby

Dean of the Biomedical Sciences Division

Peter Goadsby is an Australian neurologist and neuroscientist who joined King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in October 2025 as Senior Associate to the President and founding dean of its Division of Biomedical Sciences, a fourth academic division created for neuroscience, experimental medicine and clinical trials. He trained in medicine and neurology at the University of New South Wales, then at Queen Square in London, with postdoctoral work at Cornell and in Paris. He was professor of clinical neurology at the Institute of Neurology in London until 2007, professor of neurology at the University of California, San Francisco from 2007 to 2013, and is professor of neurology at King's College London and director of the NIHR King's Clinical Research Facility, with honorary consultant posts at King's College Hospital and Great Ormond Street. His research identified calcitonin gene-related peptide as a central driver of migraine, work that produced the gepants and the anti-CGRP antibodies. He was elected to the Academy of Medical Sciences in 2016, shared the 2021 Brain Prize and became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2022.
