Thomas Medveczky
Clinical Director and Consultant Respiratory Physician
Thomas Medveczky qualified in medicine at the Charite medical school in Berlin in 2004, with training attachments at teaching hospitals of the universities of Cambridge and Bristol, and was awarded a doctorate of medicine with distinction by Humboldt University of Berlin for work in respiratory immunology. He also holds a PhD and a postgraduate certificate in allergy from Imperial College London, and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and of the European Federation of Internal Medicine. He joined Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust in 2015, where he was clinical lead for respiratory medicine, and later clinical director for inpatient medicine at St Helier Hospital. He is now clinical director for medicine at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, responsible for community adult medical services covering most of the county of Sussex. His clinical work centres on asthma, COPD and unexplained breathlessness, and the specialist airways service he has led sees more than a thousand patients a year. He sits on a British Thoracic Society committee and contributed to national COPD treatment guidance.
