Helmut Schuehsler has invested in life sciences since 1987, starting at Horizonte Venture Management in Vienna. He joined Techno Venture Management in Munich in 1990, built its life science practice, became managing partner and opened the firm's life science activity in Boston in 1998, raising more than a billion dollars and leading around thirty direct investments in Europe and the United States, with more than forty portfolio companies going public. In 2010 he and co-founder Hoda Abou-Jamra established TVM Capital Healthcare as an independent manager domiciled in Dubai, which later added hubs in Singapore, Riyadh and Ho Chi Minh City. It closed a second Middle East fund at 254 million dollars in 2024 and arranged 124 million dollars of financing for Baraya Extended Care. He chaired the professional standards committee of the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association and was its chairman in 2007, and spent more than ten years on the board of Max Planck Innovation in Munich. He studied at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and did postgraduate research at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna.
