Associate Professor of Medical Genetics

Naif AlMontashiri is an Associate Professor of Medical Genetics at the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Taibah University. His research and teaching cover molecular genetics and the genetic basis of disease in Saudi populations, an area where high rates of consanguinity produce a distinctive spectrum of recessive conditions and founder variants. Work in this field connects gene discovery to diagnostic practice, since establishing that a variant causes disease is what allows a clinical laboratory to report it and a family to be counselled on recurrence risk.
