Sarah Alharbi is an Assistant Professor of Molecular Microbiology and Deputy Head of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences at the College of Applied Medical Sciences, King Saud University, in Riyadh. Her research applies molecular methods to the detection and characterisation of microbial pathogens, including next-generation sequencing in clinical microbiology, where the practical questions are which clinical situations justify sequencing, how quickly results can be produced, and how sequence data is interpreted into a report that changes patient management.
