Malik Alrefaei

Malik Alrefaei is a faculty member in Special Education at the College of Education, Taif University, specialising in attention and learning difficulties, and has served as Vice Dean of the College since his appointment by decision of the University President in March 2025. He holds a doctorate in social sciences from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Georg-August University of Göttingen, Germany; his dissertation, defended in February 2016, examined knowledge of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and intercultural experiences among Arab parents and teachers in Germany and Saudi Arabia through a quantitative study of 146 participants living in Germany and 232 in Saudi Arabia. His research addresses learning disabilities, attention disorders and developmental disorders, with particular focus on dyscalculia and dyslexia. His published work includes studies on brain-training video games and visuospatial working memory in children with dyscalculia, number sense deficits in developmental dyscalculia, game-based instruction and mathematical problem-solving in students with learning disabilities, factors influencing teachers' intention to adopt e-books for children with learning disabilities, and the combination of sensory integrative techniques with direct reading comprehension instruction.
