Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel

Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel has served as Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since his appointment by Royal Decree on 15 October 2021. He previously served as Deputy Minister of Health for Planning and Development from June 2016, a period in which he helped supervise the development of the health sector transformation strategy as well as the Kingdom's COVID-19 emergency response plans and vaccination centres. As Chairman of the Health Sector Transformation Program Committee, he oversees the institutional transformation of the Ministry, including the establishment of the Health Holding Company and the National Health Insurance Center approved by the Council of Ministers in June 2022 to separate the regulator from the service provider. He is a member of the Council of Ministers and the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, Chairman of the Saudi Health Council, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, and Chairman of the Boards of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority and the Public Health Authority, chairing 28 boards, centres and committees in total. He also serves as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Salman Center for Disability Research. Before joining the health sector he managed strategy, planning and development portfolios at the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (now the Ministry of Investment) and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from King Saud University, a Master's degree in Computer Science from Saint Joseph's University in Pennsylvania, and an Executive Certificate in Leadership and Management from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
