Minister of Human Resources and Social Development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 2018, when he was appointed Minister of Labor and Social Development; in February 2020 a royal order merged the Ministry of Civil Service into the ministry under its current name, making him the first minister to hold the portfolio. He is responsible for the legal and administrative regulation of the Saudi labour market and for the legislation needed to grow the non-profit sector. He chairs the boards of the Human Resources Development Fund (HADAF), the Social Development Bank, the Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities, the Family Affairs Council, the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development, the National Center for Social Studies, the Institute of Public Administration, the General Authority of Awqaf, the Orphans Care Charitable Foundation (Ekhaa), the National Committee for the Care of Prisoners, Ex-Prisoners and their Families (Tarahum), the Princess Seetah bint Abdulaziz Award for Excellence in Social Work, Takamol Holding, Future Work Company and the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, and sits on the board of the Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority. Before entering government he was a businessman who founded and chaired a number of local and international companies and factories, served as Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers, Chairman of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Vice Chairman of the Federation of GCC Chambers, and led several charitable foundations and associations. He holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
