Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine

Professor Stefano Negrini, MD, PhD, is a physician and researcher who serves as Full Professor of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Milan, Italy. He is also an Honorary Professor at the University of Jordan and an Associate Graduate Faculty member at Ontario Tech University in Canada. Professor Negrini is Director of the Evidence-Based Rehabilitation Laboratory at the IRCCS Galeazzi Sant'Ambrogio Research Hospital in Milan and Scientific Director of ISICO, the Italian Scientific Spine Institute. He also serves as President of the European Organization for University Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (UniPRM). He is a member of the European Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine, an expert with the Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Section of the European Union of Medical Specialists, a member of the Scientific Board of the European Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ESPRM), and a member of the Advisory Board of the International Society on Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment (SOSORT). Professor Negrini founded and directed Cochrane Rehabilitation, Functioning and Disability from 2016 to 2026 and served as Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine from 2004 to 2020. He was also a founder, Secretary, and President of SOSORT between 2004 and 2012 and has held several leadership positions in international and European physical and rehabilitation medicine societies. He has received 23 scientific and professional awards, including the ISPRM Distinguished Researcher Senior Award in 2023, the Association of Academic Physiatrists' Joel DeLisa Lecture in 2018, and the Scoliosis Research Society's John Moe Award in 2018. Professor Negrini has a Scopus H-index of 61 and has been ranked among the world's top 2% of scientists according to the Stanford University ranking.
