Leena Khonji
Nursing, Midwifery and Women's Health
Dr Leena Khonji is the first Bahraini woman to attain the rank of Associate Professor in Nursing and Midwifery. She currently serves as Dean of the College of Health and Sport Sciences and Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Nursing Development in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR). Dr Khonji has more than 26 years of experience in clinical practice, academic leadership, and international health collaboration. Her research expertise includes intrapartum care, evidence-based midwifery practice, women's health, and qualitative and mixed-methods research. She actively supervises master's students across a wide range of research topics and contributes to the scholarly community as a peer reviewer for several nursing and midwifery journals. Dr Khonji also represents the nursing and midwifery professions on the Bahraini Council for Health Studies and Specialities and holds multiple national and international memberships and affiliations.
