Sumera Haque

Sumera Haque is a physician trained in Pakistan whose two decades as a healthcare executive span the United States, the Middle East and South Asia. She built and led the first Johns Hopkins comprehensive women's health centre in Washington, DC, brokered a Johns Hopkins Medicine International partnership with the Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences in Lahore, and was most recently group chief medical officer of the Sheikh Khalifa hospitals in the Northern Emirates. She founded the An-Nisa Foundation, a non-profit for women's health in poorer countries, named for her mother, Qamar-an Nisa, who lived 15 years with a brain tumour and Parkinson's disease. She advises the Milken Institute Women's Health Network, chaired by Jill Biden, on the Middle East and South Asia, and is faculty advisor at the George Washington University Global Women's Institute, where she took her master's degree at the Milken Institute School of Public Health. In 2019 she was the first Pakistani-American woman to finish the Presidential Leadership Scholars programme, and in 2024 became a Clinton Global Initiative commitment maker for women's health equity.
