Sosthenes Bagumhe
President
Sosthenes E. Bagumhe is a Tanzanian health informatics specialist who leads HELINA, the Pan African Health Informatics Association, which is the African regional group of the International Medical Informatics Association and works to professionalise digital health across the continent. He was elected its president-elect before taking office, having earlier served as its secretary general, and he is also president of the Tanzania Health Informatics Association. A human-centred design practitioner with more than sixteen years of experience in information systems, project management and implementation, he has spent much of that career with Tanzania's Ministry of Health, where he contributed to the development and national deployment of digital health systems, among them the Tanzania Health Information Exchange, which connects the country's health applications so that patient and service data can move between them. His current work includes leading the rollout of telemedicine services and of the National Health Client Registry, being integrated with the national health information mediator.
