Sara Al Dallal
President of Emirates Health Economics Society
Sara Al Dallal is a physician and health economist from Dubai. She graduated in medicine from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at United Arab Emirates University, completed an internal medicine residency with the Dubai Health Authority and practised internal medicine for about six years, and holds a master's in healthcare management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and a master's in health economics and health policy from the London School of Economics. She joined the Dubai Health Authority's health funding department in 2013 and worked on implementing universal health coverage in the emirate under Dubai Law No. 11 of 2013, later serving there as a senior health service specialist. In July 2020 she founded the Emirates Health Economics Society as a non-governmental body under the Emirates Medical Association and has led it since as president, running capacity-building workshops for government bodies, annual conferences and white papers for policymakers, and arguing for health technology assessment models fitted to the UAE. She also initiated a Gulf health economics society, launched from Dubai.
