Artificial Intelligence Lead

Ramses Marrero Garcia is an anaesthesiologist who took his specialist training in anaesthesiology and resuscitation at the University of La Laguna and who now leads the artificial intelligence laboratory at Hospital Clinic de Barcelona, one of the largest university hospitals in Spain. His work centres on bringing emerging technologies into hospital practice, with particular attention to large language models for medical education and for improving clinical processes, and he speaks on how hospitals should govern and manage artificial intelligence, including at the Tauli Health Artificial Intelligence Symposium in 2025. Hospital Clinic has been an early adopter of clinical artificial intelligence: it has deployed an artificial intelligence platform in its radiology department, has worked with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center on models that predict how patients will progress, and its research institute IDIBAPS has presented a tool to assist prostate cancer diagnosis. Alongside his hospital work he practises anaesthesiology at Centro Medico Teknon in Barcelona.
