Owen Doody

Professor

Owen Doody is a professor in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Limerick and a member of the university's Health Research Institute. He qualified as a registered intellectual disability nurse in 1997 and is on that division of the register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. He took a BSc at the University of Limerick in 2002, an MSc with the Royal College of Nursing Institute in 2005, and a PhD at the University of Ulster in 2012. His research covers specialist nursing practice, community living for people with an intellectual disability, and support for their families. He has worked on national projects in Ireland including intellectual disability nursing metrics, older person nursing metrics, the future role of the registered nurse in intellectual disability, and a leadership programme for nurses and managers in intellectual disability services.
