Nasir K. Al-Naimi

President, Upstream

President of Upstream at Saudi Aramco, the business responsible for exploration, field development and oil and gas production in the Kingdom and for the company’s upstream assets abroad. A Saudi national and a petroleum engineer, he joined the company in the 1980s and advanced through reservoir engineering, field management and drilling, headed several major operating departments and served as Senior Vice President of Upstream Services before his promotion. In his current role he oversees the operation of giant fields, foremost among them Ghawar and Safaniya, the expansion programme in unconventional gas production led by the Jafurah field, and programmes to reduce the emissions intensity of production and raise recovery efficiency using sensing and artificial intelligence technologies.
