Patrick Pouyanné
Chairman & CEO
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TotalEnergies. He became chief executive in October 2014 following the death of Christophe de Margerie and later added the chairmanship. A French national, he is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole des Mines in Paris, and worked early in his career in the French civil service and ministerial offices before joining the group in 1997. He advanced through exploration and production and then led the refining and chemicals business. Under his leadership the company changed its name from Total to TotalEnergies in 2021, signalling a multi-energy strategy that adds electricity and renewables to oil and liquefied natural gas, and expanded into LNG, solar and battery storage projects across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
