Jenny Johnson

Jennifer Johnson is the granddaughter of Rupert Johnson, who founded Franklin Resources, and the daughter of Charles Johnson, who led the firm for decades. She graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder and joined the company in 1988, spending some thirty years working through its technology, operations, investor services and wealth management arms. She was named chief operating officer in 2016 and president and chief executive in February 2020. She led the firm's acquisition of Legg Mason in 2020 for about four and a half billion dollars and of Putnam Investments in 2023, taking assets under management past one and a half trillion dollars. She has been among the earliest traditional asset managers to move into blockchain and tokenised funds.
