President, Downstream

President of Downstream at Saudi Aramco, the business that comprises refineries, chemical complexes and marketing and distribution operations inside the Kingdom and abroad. A Saudi national, he is a petroleum engineer and a graduate of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals with postgraduate engineering degrees. He joined the company in the 1980s and advanced through reservoir engineering and field management. Before his current role he served as Senior Vice President and head of Upstream, running major field development programmes and production capacity expansion. In his present position he oversees the liquids-to-chemicals programme, which aims to convert a large share of the company’s crude output into chemical products, and its refining investments in China, South Korea and India.
