Founder and Chairman of the Board of ACWA Power, a Saudi company that develops and operates power generation and water desalination plants and works in more than ten countries across the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia and Southeast Asia. A Saudi national from a long-established business family in the electricity and contracting sectors, he founded the company in 2004 to enter the independent water and power production market in the Kingdom. He led it from fossil fuel projects to the front rank of renewable energy projects in the region, among them the Noor solar complex at Ouarzazate in Morocco, the Sakaka plant, the Shuaibah project and the Dhofar wind farms, and then to the NEOM green hydrogen project, one of the largest hydrogen projects in the world. The company listed on the Saudi stock exchange in 2021.
