Laila Carolina Abu Esba is a clinical pharmacist at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, part of the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, where she runs the Drug and Poison Information Center and co-chairs the corporate drug evaluation committee. Her practice and research cover medication safety, pharmacovigilance, evidence-based practice and formulary management, including published work on severe drug allergy alert overrides, adverse drug reactions, and pharmacy and therapeutics committee preparedness during COVID-19, as well as Delphi consensus work on the evaluation and reimbursement of drugs for rare diseases in Saudi Arabia. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Toronto and a master's degree in infectious disease from Sodertorn University in Sweden, and studied health economics and outcomes research at the University of Washington.
