Julien Merceron

Julien Merceron serves as Chief Technology Officer at Delphi Interactive, following a career spanning over 30 years leading technology at the world’s largest gaming companies. He is recognized as one of the foremost technology experts in the video game industry, having worked on renowned engines and franchises that have redefined industry standards. He began his career in 1993 developing on the Atari Jaguar platform. He joined Ubisoft in 1994, working on the programming of Rayman 1, POD, and Rayman 2, before becoming the company’s Global Technical Director in 1999. In 2005, he moved to Eidos as Global Head of Technology, then became Global Technical Director for the Square Enix group, overseeing the engines and franchises of Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Hitman, Deus Ex, and Kingdom Hearts. He joined Konami in 2013 as Global Technical Director to oversee the Fox Engine and work directly on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. In 2016, he moved to Bandai Namco Studios as Global Head of Technology. He has worked on developing advanced technologies in graphics, artificial intelligence, and game engines across multiple platform generations. He is known for his unique expertise in building global technology strategies for major game studios and overseeing the development of cutting-edge game engines. He combines deep technical understanding with the ability to lead multinational R&D teams on massive projects. He is participating in LEAP 2026 to share his expertise in gaming and interactive entertainment technologies—sectors experiencing significant growth in Saudi Arabia, which is investing heavily in the gaming industry through the Savvy Games Fund.
