Carl Pei is the Founder and CEO of Nothing, a London-based consumer technology company valued at $1.3 billion. He founded the company in 2021 with an ambitious vision to remove barriers between people and technology. Its cumulative sales have surpassed $1 billion, with over seven million devices sold. Born in Beijing in 1989 and raised in Sweden, he studied at the Stockholm School of Economics before dropping out in 2011 to work in the smartphone industry. He worked at Nokia and then Meizu before joining Oppo in 2012. In 2013, he co-founded OnePlus with Pete Lau, launching the OnePlus One, which Time magazine described as the "phone of dreams," selling nearly one million units in its first year. He launched Nothing's first product, the ear (1) headphones, in July 2021, followed by the Nothing Phone (1) in 2022, which received widespread acclaim for its innovative design and unique Glyph interface. The company has raised over $450 million from prominent investors, including iPod inventor Tony Fadell, Google Ventures, and Tiger Global, and doubled its annual revenue to exceed $500 million in 2024.
