James Oates is a chartered accountant and healthcare investor who is a partner and chief financial officer of Balmoral Partners, a private holding company that acquires and grows healthcare businesses across medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and healthcare services. The firm's stated ambition is to build a portfolio of 25 healthcare companies with 500 million pounds in combined revenue, and its current holdings include Normedica, GT Vision, Alphagenix, Great Ideas, FOC and Beacon. Before joining Balmoral he was mergers and acquisitions director at HC-One, one of the largest care home operators in the United Kingdom, where he executed more than 500 million pounds of transactions, and he spent a decade at PwC advising companies on transactions and performance improvement. His work centres on structuring acquisitions in health businesses and on supporting management teams before, during and after a transaction.
