Chief Executive of the Japan Cooperation Center for Petroleum and Sustainable Energy, known as JCCP. The centre is a Japanese institution established in 1981 with government backing to serve as the channel for technical cooperation between Japan and oil producing countries, with its activity concentrated in the Arabian Gulf and North Africa. Its work rests on three tracks: training and knowledge transfer programmes that each year take in hundreds of engineers and technicians from producer states; joint technical cooperation projects with national oil companies in refining, operational efficiency and emissions reduction; and institutional dialogue between the two sides. In recent years the centre has widened its programmes to cover hydrogen, ammonia and carbon capture in support of Japan’s climate commitments and its partnerships with energy producers.
