Fatimah Aloef
General Supervisor of Social Statistics
Fatimah Aloef is general supervisor of social statistics at Saudi Arabia's General Authority for Statistics, the government body that produces the kingdom's official data on population, households, labour and living conditions. She was among the officials who explained Saudi Census 2022 to the public during its self-enumeration phase, confirming that households which counted themselves online would not need a field visit from an enumerator. That census was the fifth housing and population count in the kingdom's history and the first conducted digitally, allowing heads of household to complete the questionnaire themselves rather than wait for an interviewer; its results put the population of Saudi Arabia at 32,175,224. The authority also publishes recurring statistics on population and housing, the labour market and household spending that government bodies use for planning. Before joining it she worked in health statistics, including as director of the data warehouse and statistics function and as a statistical consultant at King Saud Medical City in Riyadh.
