Faiq Farooq

Doctor

Faiq Farooq works as a doctor at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust in the south of England, with clinical work spanning internal medicine and dermatology. His research examines where artificial intelligence can take on the writing that surrounds a consultation. He is an author on a pilot study published in Clinical and Experimental Dermatology in 2025 that compared dermatology consultation letters produced by two AI tools, ChatGPT and Heidi, against letters produced by traditional methods, scoring them on accuracy, readability and time; the study found the AI-generated letters faster and more accurate than the traditional approach. He has also contributed to a review of how artificial intelligence entered gastroenterology training between 2005 and 2025.
