Duncan Selbie

President

Duncan Selbie has led the International Association of National Public Health Institutes since December 2020, an association that links national public health institutes worldwide with more than a hundred members across some 98 countries and which signed a formal partnership with the World Health Organization in 2022. He was the founding chief executive of Public Health England, running it from its creation in 2012 until 2020, and before that was chief executive of Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals, the regional teaching hospital for the south east of England. His earlier career was spent inside the National Health Service: chief executive of the South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust, then chief executive of the South East London Strategic Health Authority, then director general of programmes and performance for the NHS in England from 2003 to 2007, and subsequently director general of commissioning. Since April 2021 he has been chief adviser to the Public Health Authority of Saudi Arabia.
