Togolani Edriss Mavura

Togolani Edriss Mavura is a career Tanzanian diplomat who presented his credentials as his country's permanent representative to the United Nations to Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on 21 May 2026. He had served since November 2021 as Tanzania's ambassador to the Republic of Korea, and before that held posts at the centre of the Tanzanian state as a foreign service officer, as private secretary to the minister of foreign affairs, and as personal assistant and speechwriter to the president. He read political science and public administration at the University of Dar es Salaam between 2002 and 2005, took a postgraduate diploma in the management of foreign service in 2013 and 2014, and completed a master of science in leadership and development at King's College London in 2018 and 2019. He sits on the governing board of the Dr Salim Ahmed Salim Centre for Foreign Relations, and his listed areas of expertise are leadership, diplomacy, negotiation, public policy and strategic communication. In New York he represents Tanzania in multilateral negotiations, including on sustainable development.
