Adham R Ismail Abdel-Moneim

Director of Programme Management

Adham R Ismail Abdel-Moneim is a biomedical engineer by training who has spent his career inside the World Health Organization, and since 1 September 2024 has led programme management at its Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean. He served as WHO representative to Saudi Arabia from January 2023, to Yemen from January 2021 and to Iraq from January 2020, directing country operations in settings shaped by conflict, displacement and emergency response alongside national health authorities and United Nations partners. Before those postings he spent thirteen years in Cairo as the regional lead for the essential medicines and health technologies programme, and earlier taught as a professor at academic institutions in Egypt and the United States, publishing in peer-reviewed journals. He holds a doctorate in biomedical engineering from the University of Miami and three master's degrees: public health from the University of Roehampton in the United Kingdom, biomedical engineering from Alexandria University and business administration from the Arab Academy for Science and Technology.
