Abdullah Alguwaihes
Professor of Endocrinology and Diabetes
Abdullah Alguwaihes is a Saudi endocrinologist working in the endocrinology unit of the internal medicine department at King Saud University's College of Medicine and as a consultant in endocrinology and diabetes at Dallah Hospital in Riyadh. He graduated from the King Saud University medical school and trained in internal medicine and adult endocrinology at the University of Toronto, earning Canadian royal college fellowship in internal medicine in 2008 and in endocrinology and diabetes in 2009, and he completed a Master of Public Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2013. He has directed the University Diabetes Centre at King Abdulaziz University Hospital and co-founded the specialised diabetes clinics at King Khalid University Hospital between 2016 and 2019. His research covers type 1 diabetes, diabetes technology and diabetes complications, and includes studies of glycaemic control with automated insulin delivery before, during and after Ramadan, hybrid closed-loop use in higher-risk fasting patients, and a diabetes telemedicine clinic set up rapidly during the COVID-19 outbreak.
