Abdel Latif M. Marini

Senior Director Quality Management

Abdel Latif M. Marini is a nurse and healthcare quality executive who serves as senior director of quality management in the University of Maryland Medical System, a network of hospitals across the state of Maryland, having led quality at its UM Upper Chesapeake Health member organisation. He is a registered nurse with a master's degree in nursing and is certified as a professional in healthcare quality, and he is pursuing doctoral study in public health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where he also lectures as a guest. Earlier in his career he worked in the quality management department at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences and King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, and in the department of internal medicine at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. He is a co-author of the 2014 study in BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making that measured the diagnostic accuracy of an electronic alert for severe sepsis and septic shock across almost 50,000 emergency department presentations, and of follow-up work on pairing that alert with a sepsis response team.
