Nawaf Alghamdi

Director of Data and Artificial Intelligence

Nawaf Alghamdi is Director of Data and Artificial Intelligence at the Council of Health Insurance in Riyadh, the Saudi government body that regulates and supervises the Kingdom's cooperative health insurance sector and operates under the Daman brand. In that role he leads the council's data and artificial intelligence agenda, aligning technology programmes with institutional objectives and working on AI ethics, regulatory compliance and data-driven innovation across the health insurance market. His remit reaches the data foundations that supervision itself rests on, from data quality and analytics to the responsible use of artificial intelligence in claims, utilisation patterns and oversight of the performance of insurers and healthcare providers. The council has been applying advanced analytics and AI to indicators such as readmission cases, average length of stay and admission rates in private-sector hospitals, work that sits squarely in his area of responsibility. Before moving into the government health sector he spent years in enterprise technology and IT infrastructure with international technology companies. He has appeared on the speaker programmes of data and AI events in Riyadh, among them the Smart Data and AI Summit and the GDX Summit.
