Naiem Moiemen

Chair of the Medical and Scientific Research Council

Naiem Moiemen chairs the Medical and Scientific Research Council at Ahl Masr Burn Hospital in Egypt and is honorary professor at the University of Birmingham. With more than forty years in burn care and a long record in scientific research, he is an internationally recognised expert in the management of all types of burn injury, and also serves as consultant plastic and burns surgeon at University Hospitals Birmingham. His career has combined the highest standards of patient care with research and its practical application. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed papers in leading medical journals alongside chapters in specialist books, and has worked as chief investigator on research grants exceeding 15 million pounds. He has been editor-in-chief of the European Burn Journal for the past five years, served as president of the International Society for Burn Injuries from 2018 to 2021, and chaired the British Burn Association from 2009 to 2011.
