Riyad Qainan Alghamdi

Acting Chief Executive Officer

Riyad Alghamdi is Acting CEO of the Saudi Public Health Authority and leads the public health and health security pillars of the Health Sector Transformation Programme. He holds an MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and is a Saudi Board-certified specialist in preventive medicine. As Deputy CEO of the authority he led the National Health Security Strategy, supervised the national COVID-19 response plan and played a central part in converting the former Saudi Center for Disease Prevention and Control into the Public Health Authority, including its legal and governance reforms. His expertise covers strategic planning, public health law and emergency preparedness, and he represents Saudi Arabia on the World Health Organization Standing Committee on Health Emergency Prevention, Preparedness and Response.
