Mohammed Abdulaziz Al-Moteq
Head of Facilities and Critical Infrastructure, King Khalid International Airport
Mohammed Abdulaziz Al-Moteq brings close to 30 years of professional experience in facility management, operations and maintenance, and critical infrastructure. He has worked at Riyadh Airports Company since October 2022, where he leads facilities and critical infrastructure management at King Khalid International Airport. His responsibilities cover terminal buildings, airside and landside facilities, utility and service networks, operational readiness, business continuity and asset performance, alongside major maintenance, upgrade and development programmes. Before that he held a senior leadership post in facility management at NEOM between October 2020 and October 2022, contributing to the development and operation of facilities within one of the Kingdom's most prominent giga-project environments. He served as Operations and Maintenance Manager at Riyadh Holding Company between January 2017 and October 2020, responsible for operations, maintenance and facility performance across a group of major real-estate assets. He began his career at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in 1997 and remained there until December 2016, building progressive engineering and leadership experience over close to 20 years in a high-criticality healthcare environment, focusing on infrastructure reliability, operational excellence and the continuity of critical services. His sector experience covers aviation, healthcare, giga-projects, real estate, critical infrastructure and facility management, and his leadership focus is on shifting facility management from a traditional maintenance-centred function to a strategic enabler of resilience, sustainability, operational excellence, business continuity and long-term asset value. He supports sustainability programmes, including LEED Platinum certification for Terminals 3, 4 and 5 at King Khalid International Airport, alongside initiatives to apply ISO 41001 for facility management and ISO 50001 for energy management. He also contributes to advancing the facility management profession in the Kingdom through knowledge transfer, the development of Saudi engineers and facility management leaders, and wider adoption of international best practice and standards.
