Mark Davies is a physician who spent more than twenty years as a general practitioner in the National Health Service before moving into health technology. He joined IBM in 2018 as chief health officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa and took the global role in 2022. Earlier he held national clinical leadership posts at the UK Department of Health and the Cabinet Office and served as executive medical director of NHS Digital. In 2003 he founded Local Care Direct, one of the largest urgent care social enterprises in the United Kingdom and an early model of integrated urgent care. He has chaired clinical advisory boards for artificial intelligence companies and was a non-executive director and deputy chair of the British Medical Journal.
