Tech Lead Health Data Spaces
Hee Kim is technical lead for health data spaces and liaison officer at the Luxembourg Institute of Health, in its Department of Medical Informatics, where she is responsible for the Medical Data Integration Center and works on data infrastructure that complies with the European Health Data Space; the institute is one of the partners behind Dataspace4Health, Luxembourg's governance framework for secure health data exchange. She completed a doctorate in medical informatics at Heidelberg University in Germany in 2024, researching efficient deep learning while working full time as the developer responsible for building and maintaining a medical data warehouse at the same university. Her research sits in machine learning for medical imaging: she is the lead author of a 2022 literature review on transfer learning for medical image classification that has been cited more than nine hundred times, and of a 2025 paper in npj Digital Medicine on forecasting daily acute ischaemic stroke admissions from weather data. Her stated aim is to close the gap between research and the real-world problems of health data systems.
