David Rhew

Global Chief Medical Officer and VP of Healthcare, Microsoft

Rhew took bachelor's degrees in computer science and cellular molecular biology at the University of Michigan and his medical degree at Northwestern University, then completed an internal medicine residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a health services research fellowship there and an infectious diseases fellowship at UCLA. He practised and researched at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System and at RAND and was associate clinical professor of medicine at UCLA, later serving as senior vice president and chief medical officer at the clinical decision support company Zynx Health, and spending six years at Samsung as chief medical officer and vice president for enterprise healthcare before joining Microsoft in 2019. He holds six United States patents in clinical decision support and the interoperability of electronic health record data. At Microsoft he sets the clinical direction of the company's health work with providers, payers, life sciences and governments, and he is an adjunct professor at Stanford University School of Medicine. He has twice been named to Modern Healthcare's most influential people in healthcare list.
