Cother Hajat

Public Health Professor and Advisor, Real World Health

Cother Hajat is a public health physician and epidemiologist whose work centres on lifestyle risk factors and chronic disease prevention. She holds an MBBS, an MPH and a PhD, is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the United Kingdom Faculty of Public Health, and has held a professorship at the Institute of Public Health at United Arab Emirates University. Earlier she was a Medical Research Council fellow in health services and population health research and an NHS public health consultant in Britain, where her research examined cardiovascular risk and stroke subtypes in the multi-ethnic cohort of the South London Stroke Register. In the Emirates she advised the government on public health, chronic disease and health informatics, and established the Weqaya cardiovascular screening initiative in Abu Dhabi alongside a breast cancer programme and a clinical quality framework. She chairs prevention for the Emirates Cardiac Society, has advised the World Health Organization on non-communicable diseases, and has presented at the United Nations General Assembly, the World Health Assembly and the World Economic Forum.
