Christian El-Khouri grew up in the medical travel business and works today as managing partner and head of consulting at IPS-Germany, the international patient service brand of MESC International Patient Service GmbH in Wiesbaden, founded in 1983 and the oldest medical tourism facilitator in Germany, which arranges treatment in German hospitals for patients from abroad. His consulting practice advises hospitals, health tourism agencies, municipalities, regional clusters, destinations and startups on strategy, international patient management, operations, marketing and business development, and he represents the Health Tourism Industry conference in Germany. As vice-president of the European Health and Medical Tourism Association he works on the cross-border healthcare agenda in Europe. Compliance, financial crime and ethical standards in medical travel run through his work, and he writes on them as editor-in-chief of Health Tourism News and in his own Medical Tourism Substack, a newsletter of long and short commentary read by investors, founders and healthcare executives.
