Head of Advanced Cell and Gene Therapy

Syed Farhatullah is Group Leader, Senior Scientist and Head of the Advanced Cell and Gene Therapy Section at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh, where he is establishing the hospital’s advanced cell and gene therapy and precision medicine programme. An expert in advanced cell and gene therapy with more than 20 years of translational research in the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and India, he leads autologous, allogeneic and CRISPR/base-edited CAR T-cell programmes for blood cancers and rare genetic disorders. At University College London he previously led several autologous, allogeneic and CRISPR/base-edited CAR T-cell programmes for haematological malignancies, as well as gene therapies for monogenic conditions.
