Philip Marnick
General Director
Philip Marnick is General Director of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the Kingdom of Bahrain, appointed by the TRA Board in early January 2022. He is also a board member of the International Institute of Communications. Previously he was Group Director of Spectrum at Ofcom in the United Kingdom and a member of its senior management team, responsible for all aspects of UK national and international spectrum management, from strategy to delivery, including awards, clearance and enforcement. His career includes senior executive roles in technology, operations and strategy at companies such as UK Broadband, O2, Orange, BT, J-Phone in Japan (now SoftBank Mobile) and SpinVox. He took part in early deployments of mobile networks using new technologies and standards and in innovative products including the first camera phone and photo messaging service. He has chaired the EU's Radio Spectrum Policy Group (RSPG).
