Gilles Bregant

Gilles Brégant has been Director General of the Agence nationale des fréquences (ANFR), France's national frequency agency, since January 2011. He is a graduate of École Polytechnique and of Télécom Paris (1988). From 1988 to 1996 he worked at France Télécom's National Centre for Telecommunications Studies (CNET), then served as technical adviser in the cabinet of the Secretary of State for Research in 1996-1997 and joined the Directorate General for Industry, where he headed the programmes and foresight sub-directorate in the information technology service. In 2001 he was named Secretary General of the Mission for the Digital Economy at the Ministry of Economy, and from 2005 he was Director of Technologies at the Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel (CSA). He chaired the Radio Spectrum Policy Group (RSPG) from 2012 to 2015 and was made a Knight of the Legion of Honour in 2013.
