UNESCO Chair on ESD, Green Skills & Climate Actions

Holder of the UNESCO Chair on Education for Sustainable Development, Green Skills and Climate Actions at Prince Sultan University, where he also directs Saudi Arabia's first sustainability and climate think tank. He is an academic visitor and senior member at St Antony's College, University of Oxford, and a visiting professor at The George Washington University. He founded and presides over Vision for Sustainable Africa, which brings together all forty-eight sub-Saharan African countries for climate action. Ranked among Stanford University's top two per cent of scientists worldwide, first in business in Saudi Arabia and third in accounting globally by ScholarGPS, he has published more than 160 peer-reviewed articles and eight books attracting over 13,000 citations. He has advised UNCTAD, UNESCO, IFAC and the L20 under the Saudi G20 presidency, and led his university to become the first carbon-neutral certified university in the Middle East and North Africa. He speaks regularly at the United Nations, COP28, COP29, UNCCD COP16 and the World Bank, and was editor-in-chief of the PSU Research Review.
