Husain Almakrami
Renewable Energy Expert
Husain Almakrami is a renewable energy expert at the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, the Saudi authority established in 1975 to plan, build and operate the industrial cities of Jubail, Yanbu, Ras Al-Khair and Jazan. He also teaches as an assistant professor of mechanical engineering technology at Yanbu Industrial College, one of the Royal Commission's colleges, where his teaching and research centre on renewable energy. He completed his doctoral work in energy engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and his published research covers dye-sensitised solar cells, photoelectrochemical storage cells and nanostructured titanium dioxide belts used to raise the efficiency with which solar energy is converted and stored. Between the materials laboratory and the training hall, his work sits on the distance separating the science of a solar cell from the technicians who will run the Kingdom's plants.
